Ask Elegant Anchors | Advice Column

This is something that has always been a fairly big passion of mine. Ever since I was young, I have always gained a lot of satisfaction over helping people. The other day I was pondering about new ideas that I could do in order to make Elegant Anchors a little bit more interesting, when I came across the idea of creating an advice column. I love giving people advice about things that they may be struggling with or are just a little curious about and I am often told that the advice I give is fairly helpful.

So welcome to a new section on Elegant Anchors... "The Advice Column" Here will be a place that if you (yes, you) could ask anything you would like to ask about any topic whether that's lifestyle, work, nature or even friends. You can ask for advice in either the comment section of any of my posts or by email ( If there is something that I don't feel like I am able to give advice about, I will research personally into the topic in order to give the best advice I possibly can. Also if the advice is given via a blog post, it will be anonymous.

So ask away...

The Fashion Tag

How would you describe your style?

If I had to describe my style, I would most likely say casual. However I do always like to try to look colourful and fairly formal as it's always good to make a good impression on anyone you many meet.

What are your wardrobe staples?

I have a few wardrobe staples if I am honest. One being a good leather jacket as it can help transform any look.

Most expensive item in your closet?

The most expensive item in my closet are my black classic Dr Martens.

Most wanted item?

I normally like the latest trend, however at the moment my converse are beginning to fall apart. So I would say a new pair of converse.

Favourite designer?

I wouldn't say I have a definite favourite designer. But if I had to say, it would most likely be a the good old classic Chanel.

How much do you spend on clothes?

Depending on what it is, normally I'm a little cheap with clothes and love my bargains. So I normally always try to shop always during the sales, aiming to spend less than £10.

What are your favourite places to shop?

My favourite places to shop at the moment are New Look, H&M and Primark.

Favourite fragrance?

My all time favourite fragrance is Vera Wang Lovestruck Floral Rush.

What's your favourite way to do your hair?

I love to wear my hair down and straightened as I think that's what suits me best personally. However I hate it when my hair gets in my face or when it rains and is windy it's a nightmare to keep it looking nice as it tends to go frizzy. If it's not like that, my other favourite is two pig tail plaits.

What is your go-to outfit when you don't know what to wear?

My everyday go to outfit is a nice tee along with shorts and a good pair of tights. If I'm looking for a go-to outfit for the evening I tend to just throw on my leather jacket along with my brown heeled boots.

One fashion trend that you wish would come back or stay?

I don't have one specific one but I wish that the times where more people had their own individual style would stay or come back.

Show us your most prize possession in your wardrobe

My most prize possession would be my Dr Martens for the fact I wanted these for years and then my Dad bought them for me as a present. I was over the moon, I then wore them on a 10 mile hike (bad decision, very bad decision). After a little bit of pain they no longer rub and are super comfortable to wear.

If you've got to this point and want to take part in the tag, please do and maybe even leave a link in the comments. I would love to check them out.

Happy Father's Day

As you may know it's Father's Day today. So I thought what better time to show my amazing Dad some appreciation...

It would be a lie to say that this past year has been easy, because as my closest loved ones would agree it definitely hasn't. However we have made it through. As cheesy as it sounds my Dad is my best friend. He has been there with me through thick and thin and still continues to encourage me to achieve my best, no matter how bizarre it may be.

For most people I think that they would say that their Dad is the best! But honestly my Dad is the best, I couldn't even imagine a more perfect Dad. Whenever anyone knocks me he is always there to pick me back up. He is my own personal superman, for many reasons. One being that despite all our struggles he has never failed to keep a roof over my head and food on my table.

If I could be half the person he is when I am older, I would be proud.

The Importance Of Spending Time With Friends

Friends have always been a big part of my life whether I know it or not. I've had many friends throughout my life and I am lucky to say that some have turned into family now. Although I was planning on writing this post a couple of weeks ago. I have recently been out for a lovely evening to the pub with a few of my closest friends and I must say it has really encouraged me to write this post even more.

"They say if you truly want to know yourself look at your five closest friends" and I must admit this is very true. I am lucky to say that I have had a good friendship with my closest friend for over three years and it keeps getting stronger. We manage to fight through the low points and are always there for each other through all the blood, sweat and tears of life. However I don't think we could've ever been that close if we didn't spend time together.

The other night I went out with a few of my closest friends, but I didn't have the best of weeks and being around the exam period I did contemplate whether I was making the right decision to go out. I can guarantee I did. Although my week had been stressful, because I was around my three closest friend who I trust deeply, I was able to open up about my worries and get them off my chest. It really helped. Being at a point in my life where I am developing more into a lady, not having a strong women figure in my life can be a little daunting sometimes. But I am lucky to have close friends who I am open with in order to help answer a few of life's strangest questions.

I have realised that the time that I don't spend with my friends, I can find myself getting into a rut which can be quite tricky to get out off. In this time I find myself knocking myself and stumbling down an even bigger whole, just because I didn't ring that friend up as I didn't want to burden them with my worries. But the truth is if they are a true friend, you will not be burdening them, because at the end of the day spending time with friends help uplift you.

So if you have a friend you haven't seen in a while, ring them up and arrange to meet up because you are never going to get that valuable time back. Friends are the family you choose and can save you a fortune of therapy.

DIY | Mini Bunting

I've loved bunting for as long as I can remember. However sometimes they're a little on the pricey side for something that you could easily make yourself. Plus if you make it yourself, it's more personal because you're most likely going to be the only one with that style, which also makes for a good talking point. I thought I'd share how I make my small bunting which I like to add to the places that look a little bare but doesn't have enough room for your average sized bunting.

The picture above shows everything ^^ you will need ^^ for this cute little DIY. Another thing I personally like about this DIY, is you have the freedom to pick the coloured paper that you like which makes it more personal.

1 | Begin by drawing an outline of on the piece of paper, preferably a square. Then split the square into two smaller rectangles.

2 | Using the rectangles as kind of a template... draw your triangles. You can draw as many triangles as you wish in order to fill the space you wish. The triangles could be however you'd like. I decided to go with a typical bunting design.

3 | Next cut them out. Try to make it so that the lines are sharp in order to add to the bunting feel. Also you could also layer a few pieces of paper and cut them together, in order to speed up the process.

4 | Layout your triangles in the order you wish.

5 | Apply a small strip of washi tape to your triangles. I decided to cut a small strip and then cut that again in half in order to make it the perfect size for the bunting piece.

6 | Finish by laying it out in the way you wish and voila! You're finished.

Top Five Blogs

I haven’t done one of these posts in a while and as we’re five months into the new year. I thought what better time to tell you my top five blogs of the year so far. As you may have guessed based on the fact that I am a blogger, I enjoy reading other peoples blogs just as much as writing my own blog posts. As it helps me to address my more creative side and also it’s just a lovely thing to do after a long hard day. Personally for me it has turned into the new magazine, with new content every day.

Recently I came across Hannah Witton’s blog, I have been watching her YouTube channel for a while but have only just came across her in the blogging world and I love her unique content. She addresses some things that I think can be seen as somewhat taboo in some areas of blogging and creates a unique and frequent amount of content. I also love how she addresses many things about life that others don’t necessarily address for example living alone.

This is a fairly new blog that I have stumbled across in the world of bloglovin’. I am a big fan of photos as this is something that can draw me either to or away from a blog. I love the pictures that she takes for her blog posts they are very peaceful and are wonderfully taken.

Personally I love her style and the way that she represents that throughout her blog. Although the design and her photos are subtle she still manages to create an impact. Also she has her new eyelashes and nails out which is also a perk as they look beautiful and are designed in a unique way.

This is a new blog that I have stumbled across recently, personally I love the unique atmosphere that this blog has. I also enjoy to see a new take on blogging which, this blog portrays with the advice column. Growing up I always loved this part of magazines, so to see it in a blog format is fun.

This isn’t a typical blog as such; it is more of a tumblr blog, which seems to be the new way of blogging. I came across this blog whilst trying to get the motivation to revise for my exams and I’m glad I did. Her photos are beautifully taken and before I start writing a long piece of work or revising for exams, I look over it and makes me a little more calm about the revision.
