My Addiction To Photographs

Ever since I was a little girl I have always been the one behind the camera. I still own the first camera I ever had; it’s a small little one where you have to insert film in order to take more photos. It’s a bit like a reusable disposable camera. I had a little rope attached to it so that I could hang it around my neck when I wasn’t using it. Yep, nerdy I know.

However now I’m older I thank little me for being the one who loves photos, as I can look back over the little things that wouldn’t of normally been able to see, my life through the eyes of little me. I have had pictures of mundane things but looking back they mean a lot. As I developed a love for photography from a young age, it does mean that I do own a small collection of cameras now.

Recently I went through my photos in order to clear out some, as I had a lot of photo albums. I managed to cut down eight photo albums into two, which may seem like I lost a lot of photos throughout the process. I’m not prepared to say I didn’t but I have doubled up every slot where a picture is. But shh! That’s our little secret.

Having a lot of photos it is hard to say that I have a favourite one as there is so many and with the way we take photographs today it means we can take more pictures and keep them stored much more easily. However there is one photo that whenever I think of my favourite photo, this one springs to mind. It may seem a little blurry to some but for me it is perfect. It is in fact the only Polaroid picture that I own and was taken on a summers evening when I was in my next door neighbours with my Dad singing karaoke. I every time I look at that photo it bring me right back to that moment when I was about four years old. Honestly that’s the thing that I love about photos as although we do have memories, a picture helps to give us that visual side to them.

Mental Health

Mental health has a unique impact on everyone. The main fact is that everyone has mental health, whether it is healthy or not in the best shape. As it is mental health awareness week, I have decided to create a little awareness for mental health in the way that I can... through blogging.

Mental health has always been a big part of my life and ever since a young age, it has impacted my life in many ways. There are many things that I have learnt throughout my experience, the main thing being that just because you don't understand someone else's problem, it doesn't mean it isn't true. As it has been a part of my life since a young age, it has been something that I've been very good at trying to hide. However just because you see someone struggling out loud doesn't make any difference, everyone has their own personalities and cope with things in different ways. Even if  someone comes up to you and it looks like they are making a fuss, it isn't always that way. You could be the only person that they can talk to at that time. It is easy to quickly judge people, but that is what makes mental health a lot harder to battle. As Suli Breaks says "problems with mental health are hard enough, being judged makes it harder".

It is sad to think that in modern days society, there is still a stigma attached to mental health. People seem to make their own opinions on mental health, that are either influenced by the media or gossip. People assume that everyone with depression, for example, are sad and self harm. Although some do, not all people with depression act the same way, some people look happy on the outside when they feel numb on the inside. 

Without people being fully educated on what the different types of mental health are actually like, they tend to misuse the words which can go on to prevent someone seeking help. There is a group of volunteers called the Mentality Project, who have a campaign called "my mental health is NOT an adjective" and personally I think that this is a great phrase to help create awareness.

I'm no professional with mental health, however if you think that you're mental health is not as healthy as it should be; I highly recommend you talk to a counsellor, therapist or even a loved one. Don't bottle it up, it's not healthy. It is better to get it checked out now, before it is too late. 

Never be ashamed or nervous about what people may think. Even if it is that you are having a bad day, by talking to someone who cares, can really make a huge difference. If you do talk to a loved one and are notice it is getting worst seek professional help, talk to your doctors about it, as they can direct you to the right people.

If you have however already acknowledged this, you are not alone. As cliché as it may sound, there are people who are going through a similar thing somewhere else in the world and there are people there to help you

A Little Update

As you may have noticed I haven’t been posting as frequently as I normally would at the moment this is because… yes you have probably guessed it. It’s exam time! It’s that time of year again when I need to get my head focused on my exams to ensure I get the best possible grades. I am writing this in the little bit of spare time I have gained before my fifteen hour exam across the next three days.

However I have decided to address this and discuss it on here as I didn't want to leave you in the dark. I am still hoping to aim to write at least one blog post per week instead of two, as to be honest there is something I find so peaceful and mindful whilst writing a blog post and editing the pictures.

After my exams are over and I get a bit more time off, I can ensure you that I will be more focused on providing more frequent and better quality content. I have a few ideas in mind and can’t wait to share them with you. In the meantime in need to focus on my exams and my future, but it won’t be long before I'm back with much more content.

I would just like to thank you, for standing by in the meantime and for all of your support. I am truly grateful for every one of you and hope you are having or have had a lovely day.
