Decorative Heart

Sorry it has been so long since I did my last post, but I have just been caught up in life at the moment. With sixth form, work and a social life, it has been hard to try and find time to just sit down and breath let alone relax enough to do a blog post. But anyway hopefully they should be more regular now.

As I have been out a lot recently, I have had very little time to take photographs for a blog post but I have realised that I haven't done a DIY post on this blog yet. So this is what I am going to do for you today. This is actually a copy from my last blog that I had but when I was talking to people about my new blog. They said that they really like the new blog style and the content but it would be a shame to loose some of the DIY posts that I did on the other blog. So what I am hoping to do it transfer the pictures across in this blog and then to create new text for it. This post is how I made a decorative heart, which I made about a year ago now and that I still own and have on my wall. I think that this DIY is such a simple little thing but can brighten up any room.

You will need...
* Cardboard | An empty cereal box
* Images from the internet | An old magazine
* Scissors
* Glue stick
* Pen / Pencil

Once you have all of these items you may begin. This DIY can also be very eco-friendly depending on whether you go for the green option or not. But it depends on your personal preference.

Step 1 | Cut out or get one piece of cardboard and cut out any images that you have found or find that you like the look of. This could either be themed or just picked randomly. It depends on what you want your decoration to be filled with. For example maybe a cooking themed heart for a kitchen or a beach themed heart for a bathroom.

Step 2 | Glue down all of your chosen pictures onto the sheet of cardboard. This can be as messy as you like and try to cover up as much of the sheet as you can so that you don't have any gaps when you come to making your heart.

Step 3 | Once you have all your images, words or quotes stuck securely onto the cardboard. Draw a heart shape onto the cardboard. You could create a template for this using the other piece of card. It could also be any shape you want, it doesn't necessarily have to be a heart it could be a star or a circle if that would suit you better.

Step 4 | Cut around the outline you made and then glue back down anything that has moved or stuck up during the last two steps. Then you're done.

I hope you have enjoyed this little DIY post and be sure to send me pictures and whether or not you made this DIY in the comments. Also comment whether you would like to see more posts like this one and whether you have any suggestions of what to make next. Thank you...

Five Things Learnt

As you may or may not know it is my birthday tomorrow. It only occurred to me today that so much has changed in my life over the past year. Most of it has been drastic changes but some of it has been small changes which has helped in the long run with the big changes that have occurred in my life. Without going into much personal detail, I have decided to tell you five things that I have learnt over the past year. To either help you with your life or for you to just read.

1. Stand up for yourself: This hasn't been something I have achieved completely yet but it is something that is in working progress. Something somebody said to me today was "Don't say sorry, if it hurt your feelings. Say I accept your apology instead." This is great as it is being polite whilst giving the idea across that they can't push you around. Again it is a work in progress but I'm slowly getting there.

2. Let people go: This is a huge one, for me personally. Over the past year I have had to let people go that never in my life would I have thought of letting go. I thought that for one, it was impossible to live without them and secondly I wasn't aloud to let someone so close not be a part of my life any more. But the truth is if they're treating you badly and you think you'll be better of without them, do it. Even though now and again I feel sad as I miss them, I know that I would never be where I am now if I didn't let them go, it has changed my life so much for the better.

3. Be aware: This is something that could link in with the last one but it is to be aware of people. I have definitely learnt over the past year not to create close connections with people unless you fully know you could trust them. This isn't blocking anyone out of you life but it is to just keep your eyes open. For example recently someone has let me down 5 times in a row, one including my birthday. It was only then that I realised that I wasn't being aware. Now I have decided to be more aware of this person and to make it clear to them that they can't keep treating me like this in the nicest way of course. Also just be aware of who you tell your personal information to as some people even if they are so close to you, can spread it.

4. Say yes: On a more positive note. Say yes to more things. Especially in the past year, I have learnt to say yes more, whether that is going to the shop with mates for a day or going to a festival. Always say yes, I have learnt so much about myself this way obviously only say yes if you know it will be safe to you and other people but just take more experiences and express yourself, maybe even die your hair a different colour.

5. You don't need a relationship: This is a little bit personal but I am going to say it anyway. This one doesn't apply to people who already have a boyfriend or girlfriend. To be honest over the past year I have realised that I am more of an independent get on with life on your own kinda girl. So for me support from friends and family is enough. But especially over the past year I have come to the realisation that you can go out with people for the wrong reasons as I have learned the hard way. I don't like rejecting people if they ask me out as it makes me feel guilty but sometimes it is something you have to grow the courage and do it. I was only dating people for the support as I felt lost and thought that I needed someone. But you don't as long as you have your friends and family there for you, that's all that matters.

I hope this have given you an insight of what I have learnt. This isn't all of the things that I have learnt but it is a few. Remember to comment down below if you have anything you've learnt over the past year and whether you like the post. Stay safe...

February Favourites

Over the month of February, I haven't tried many new products but I have been loving a lot of different things. So instead of just showing you what products I have been loving I have decided to add in a few different other things, like music that I have been loving over the month.

Firstly I have been loving Maybelline's Great Lash Mascara in blackest black. Firstly I just love how vibrant and out going the mascara is. I love how the pink and green kinda clash against each other, which is something you don't normally see in products. But anyway enough about the aesthetics of the mascara. What about the actual product? The product itself is amazing quality. One thing I love is how with one coat it can make your lashes look natural but if you add a few more coats, it makes you lashes pop and become more voluminous. Another thing that I like about this product is the brush, I find with most mascaras they're an amazing product but they are not always the easiest to hold. Which isn't the case with this mascara I find that with this mascara the it is easy to hold and the brush picks up enough product but not to much to make your lashes get clumpy. If I had to rate this product out of 5 I would give it a good 4.

I have had a few Nails Inc polishes in the past and have really gotten along with them. To be honest this was a product that I got out of the Glamour magazine and put amongst the rest of my nail polishes and didn't really think about giving it ago. Until the other day when I though about trying a different colour to wear and I found this colour. Originally I thought it was a brown but this is one of those nail polishes that change depending on what light you are in. This doesn't change drastically like turns from brown to pink. The colour just slightly alters to more a grey tone when outdoors. I also love how hard wearing this product is, as I do a lot of work with my hands whether that's studying, cooking or even having a bath. Sometimes I find that most nail polishes tend to chip very easily but this nail polish is a lot more hard wearing than some and especially if you apply two to three coats I found that they could last from anything between three to five days. I would give this nail polish a good 4.5 out of 5 overall.

This is something that I picked up very near the end of February and it is the Glade Relaxing Zen. I have loved the Glade Blackberry Frost for a long time and found myself keep repurchasing it and as  I love the little jars keeping the jars. It's only when I realised the pile of Blackberry Frost growing that  thought it might be time to purchase a different one, just for a change. So I picked up this one and really like the smell, It is supposed to last 30 hours but if you're like me and just keep burning them all the time everyday I would say it would last around 25 hours. The smell of this candle is beautiful. I think the style of the jar really reflects the smell of the candle. The smell is very fresh and reminds me of the smell you get when you're in the bath washing your hair. Another thing I love about this product is that you don't even really need to burn the candle to get the smell it just leaves a hint of the smell in your room. It's a strong smell but not over the top. Again if I had to rate this candle out of 5 it would be a high 4.5.

Oh... My! This product is amazing and does complete wonders for your hair especially if you are like me and want to tame the frizz. I find with most products they claim that they tame the frizz but in all fairness it doesn't change it at all. But with this product it does what it says. I got these little packets to give them a try and to see whether they actually worked with my hair. Plus they were only 15p at Savers. So that's a bargain but you can buy the bigger bottles which I'll leave a link here. I just can't recommend this product enough. Even if you are just looking for a hair mask type thing to really rejuvenate your hair this is the one for you.

Recently I have been really stressed and have been finding it very hard to calm down and breath, even to the extent that "one big breath" doesn't help. But I have found that these Rescue Pastilles really do the job. I found that just taking one before bed could really help you relax and get to sleep or even if your out and about doing your daily duties and physically don't have the time to sit down and breath. Just have one of these and they really help to get you back on track. I have been using these for a long while now, about a year and a half. But over the previous month I have found that they are really beginning to help.

Now this is a very personal monthly favourite that I have loved ever since I was giving it for Christmas. Which is my Sister necklace from my little sister Makayla. I know sometimes she likes to read my blog, so just a little shout out to her if she's reading this... "Hello Sweetheart, Love you". I really love this necklace, I love how the diamonds don't make it too outgoing but just adds that little bit of sparkle. Just everything about this necklace I have been loving. I think the style of it really relates to my personality, it's dainty but has a personality of it's own.

My favourite book is the first part of this little series which is Elixir. I used to love Hilary as an actress and singer growing up until I started reading her books, now she is my favourite author. I would love to go into detail about this book and the characters but I don't want to spoil it for anyone reading or wanting to read it. I just really think that this book has a life of it's own, it has a lot of adventure but not too much that you can't relax. This is just one of those books that stick in your head. I just love the mystery about what's going to happen at the end and how it leaves you on the edge of your chair after every page. If you are looking for good read this month I highly recommend Devoted.

Moving onto music that I have been loving over the past month. There has been two new groups that I have fell in love with which are Happy People by Peace and Talking Dreams by Echosmith. As there are two albums, instead of going through each album and explaining why I love it so much I have decided to add my favourite song from each album for you to make you mind up whether you like them yourself or not.

Number One| Lost on me by Peace taken from Happy People.

Number Two| Come Together by Echosmith taken from Talking Dreams

So there you have it my February favourites. I should have said to grab a hot beverage at the beginning but I didn't know it would be this long. Anyway apart from how long this post was I hope you liked it and it has given you some inspiration for the month of March. Also before I sign off I would just like to say a BIG thank you for all the support I had from my last blog post. Remember to feel free to make a comment and I'll reply to every comment made. Thank you...
